Phil Dawson

BSc BDS MSc DipRestDent (RCS Eng) PgDipEd

Dentistry and education are 2 of my passions (best to ignore one of my others which is Newcastle United Football Club!). The combination of these both excites and inspires me and is an important aspect of my professional life. I have been involved in Dental Foundation Training since 1998 mentoring over 20 VTs/FDs; facilitating their transition from newly qualified dentists into confident and competent clinicians

capable of independent practice but at the same time knowing their own limitations and when to seek advice. In many ways, this Restorative Diploma is a natural progression from DFT as it allows the acquisition of advanced restorative skills in a very safe learning environment.

Dentistry is, I feel, a journey that is never completed and a personal milestone of mine was the completion of the FGDP Diploma in Restorative Dentistry and subsequent MSc in 2009/2010. The effect on my practising life and on me generally was, to say the least, immense and has since inspired me to study further and more deeply.
